These are insanely dangerous times. If you’re feeling scared, angry, helpless, overwhelmed….

You’re in good company.

And there are techniques that can help you emotionally self-regulate.

I hate that term, but tons of people use it.

As a GenXer, I say chill out, calm down, get centered, ground, re-focus.

A friend asked for advice to give her daughter — who has her own very young daughter and many friends who will be attacked by the incoming government in the United States.

My friend says her daughter wants to go out into the woods and scream. Good, I said, good! Let it out!

Here’s what I shared with her and our friends group:

Screaming in the woods is actually quite healing. If she can go barefoot there, it will help exponentially. We have good reason to scream, and remaining calm at all times is a denial of our individual power and emotions.

Grief and anger come and go in waves. Just stay on the surfboard as best as possible. Grief is particularly sneaky and comes disguised, so just give yourself grace.

Mudras are an ancient healing modality which essentially combine acupressure and meridians. They are hand gestures like the OK sign and are super simple to do. Here is my course/app:  https://blog.peacockandpaisley.com/product/mudras-self-healing-course/

Mudras take only minutes to do, and the positive effects are close to immediate.

When you combine mudras with being barefoot on the earth, you can chill out / emotionally self-regulate rapidly.

Flow the energy. Don’t deny it. Acknowledge it. Use it.

When you have sufficiently flowed for right now, be open to being inspired or acknowledging your next step.

You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be you.

PS: pine trees are especially helpful for emotional healing, as are their needles steeped into a tea.

Too often as women in U.S. culture we have been taught to suppress our emotions to serve everyone else’s good. Look up the stats on how many women took heavy-duty drugs, had lobotomies, and became alcoholics after WW2.

This damaging approach has carried through even to this day.

Stop repressing your feelings.

Acknowledge them. Use them. Your magic is fueled by your feelings.
