On today’s The View, Rosie O’Donnell and Joy Behar spoke with nutritionist Joy Bauer. Bauer has written the book Food Cures, which outlines which foods cause bad moods and which ones boost good moods.
The top 3 depression-fighters are:
- Omega-3 fats like those found in salmon and flax seed. Average dose is about 1000 mg per day.
- Potent Vitamin B’s: B12 and Folic Acid, found in tuna, dairy, seafood, edamame.
- Vitamin D!!! This one’s a biggie, especially if you live in the north and suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (commonly known as the Winter Blues). You can find milk and some cereals supplemented with Vit. D, but your body will produce it if exposed (carefully) to sunlight. About 10 minutes a day will start to help.
